Long Beach, CA - Beginning Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the Long Beach City Council will welcome the community back to in-person meetings at the Bob Foster Civic Chamber at Long Beach City Hall, 411 W. Ocean Blvd. The public is invited to participate in the meetings, which were temporarily held virtually via Webex due to COVID-19 precautions.

“We are thrilled to be able to reopen the Civic Chamber to the public and be together safely in person to see and hear from community members on the important topics impacting the city,” said City Clerk Monique De La Garza.

The City has implemented various tools and services to continue to promote equitable community involvement in City Council meetings throughout the pandemic while in-person gatherings were not permitted, including launching a telephonic public comment feature and providing Spanish interpretation during City Council meetings in real-time. 

As the in-person meetings resume, Webex will no longer be utilized for public participation. Individuals interested in providing public comment must appear physically in the Civic Chamber. Facial coverings will be required for unvaccinated attendees ages two years and older, per California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidance. Additionally, every other seat will be reserved to provide physical distance between audience members.

The public will continue to have the option to use eComment to provide comments on agenda items until 4 p.m. each meeting day. Written comments may also be submitted by email to cityclerk@longbeach.gov.
