Long Beach – The City of Long Beach is advising registered Long Beach voters of the upcoming Special Statewide Election following the Aug. 21, 2025, signed legislation by California Governor Gavin Newsom. California voters will decide on Proposition 50, a constitutional amendment that, if passed, would temporarily suspend the state’s current congressional districts and allow for a new congressional district map for the 2026 through 2030 elections. The Special Statewide Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025.

All active registered California voters, including Long Beach residents, will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot beginning Oct. 6, 2025.

Voters have multiple options to return their ballot:

  • By mail via the U.S. Postal Service.
  • At any participating Vote by Mail Ballot Drop Box location.
  • At any Vote Center location in Los Angeles County.

Information about Vote Centers and Vote by Mail Ballot Drop Box locations will be shared at a later date. In anticipation of this special election, Long Beach voters are encouraged to check their registration status now to ensure their mailing address is up to date.

Additional official Special Election information is available on the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk website.
