Moving forward, Long Beach City Council meetings will be translated in real-time upon request, per the City’s Language Access Policy. To request a translator for future meetings, members of the public can contact the Office of the City Clerk 24 hours before the meeting. 

Since June 16, 2020, Long Beach City Council has allowed telephonic public comments on agenda items as a way to provide more opportunities for public engagement while adhering to health orders and guidelines related to COVID-19, which changed public gathering and public meeting rules.

The five-minute timer will also be re-implemented for Councilmember comments, with unlimited abilities to re-queue to speak. The City also is testing video capability of the Councilmember and staff during Council meetings, which is expected to be integrated in the near future.
