Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has begun providing Spanish interpretation during City Council meetings in real-time, with requests for the service no longer required. Dial-in information for Spanish interpretation will be posted on the City Clerk homepage on the day of each meeting.

The City traditionally has provided interpretation services, upon advance request, for City Council meetings. With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting in-person meetings, the City transitioned to meetings via teleconference, and in August 2020, the Office of the City Clerk implemented technology to once again begin offering these services in Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog upon request. In September, the Long Beach City Council voted to provide Spanish interpretation at City Council meetings as a standard service, and it is included in the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget. 

People may still request interpreters in Khmer and Tagalog by contacting the Office of the City Clerk 24 hours before the meeting, with dial-in information to listen to the meetings in requested languages posted on the City Clerk homepage on the day of each meeting.
