On January 27, 2016, a Los Angeles Superior Court denied a Petition for Writ of Mandate upholding the Long Beach Civil Service Commission’s decision, which upheld the City Manager’s decision to suspend Officer Athanasios Megas for two days due to his dereliction of duty as a police officer. Officer Megas’ egregious conduct included not responding to calls for assistance.
