FIS Feasibility Study Results

Release Date: 2016-10-04

In July 2015, the Long Beach City Council authorized a “feasibility study” to determine if it is appropriate to bring international air carrier and general aviation service to the Long Beach Airport (LGB). The feasibility study was initiated due to a request from JetBlue Airways. The feasibility study, which was prepared by Jacobs Engineering, will be presented to the public in October 2016. Learn more about the Jacobs study through the official Feasibility Study for a Federal Inspection Service Facility at Long Beach Airport document. The City Council also requested that the City Attorney prepare a legal opinion examining the possible effects that could occur to the Long Beach Noise Compatibility Ordinance (LBMC 16.43) if international air service were to commence at LGB. View the documentation of the City Attorney’s Government Claim Activity for 2021.
