Background and Experience

Prior to joining the Office of the City Attorney, Shelby Banks practiced as an associate attorney at Park|Guenthart. She began her career in Workers' Compensation as a Legal Extern and later an Associate Attorney at Purinton, Jimenez, Labo & Wu LLP. Ms. Banks is experienced in representing self-insured employers, Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), insurance companies, and third-party administrators in all aspects of Workers’ Compensation litigation. 

While in law school, Ms. Banks was a Student Advocate for the Children's Rights Clinic at Southwestern Law School and a Post-Bar Law Clerk at the Children's Law Center of California.

Ms. Banks is a member of the State Bar of California Workers’ Compensation section.

Education

Ms. Banks earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a minor in Law & Society from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO). She received her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, where she graduated from the SCALE Two-Year Accelerated J.D. Program.
