Background and Experience

Matthew Peters is a Deputy City Attorney who represents the City of Long Beach and city employees in a variety of civil actions, including civil rights, employee negligence, and public property liability. 

Prior to joining the City Attorney’s Office in 2018, Mr. Peters practiced civil litigation in private practice where he represented injured parties throughout California.

Professional Affiliations 

Mr. Peters is admitted to practice before all the Courts in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Peters is a member of the American Bar Association and the UCSB Alumni Association. 

Education 

Mr. Peters received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received his Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
