Background and Experience

Eric Smith is a seasoned attorney with over 35 years’ experience in the areas of real estate, construction, and business law, specializing in the litigation and resolution of complex real estate, construction, and business disputes in all forums, including state and federal court, JAMS, and AAA. Before moving to the Harbor Division, Mr. Smith represented a variety of clients in private practice including, developers, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, material suppliers, homeowner associations, banks, sureties, and governmental agencies. He also has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting real estate related documents, construction contracts, and business agreements, on behalf of contractors, developers, and owners. Mr. Smith has been “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 2012, and has been designated a Super Lawyer in Southern California by his peers since 2013.

Professional Affiliations

A member of the State Bar of California, and admitted to practice before the Central and Southern U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Federal Court of Claims, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Education

Mr. Smith is a graduate of Western State University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate, and the University of Southern California, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs.
