Background and Experience
Ms. Weesner-McKinley provides legal assistance to the Department of Development Services on such issues as land use and planning, building regulations, and environmental regulations. Ms. Weesner-McKinley also advises the Department of Technology and Innovation, and the Purchasing and Labor Compliance divisions within the Department of Financial Management and negotiates various contracts on their behalf. She further advises the Department of Human Resources on various labor and employment matters including but not limited to employee grievances and related arbitration, PERB and EEOC claims, and employee policies and discipline. Ms. Weesner-McKinley advises clients and public bodies on the Public Records Act and the Brown Act.
Professional Affiliations
Ms. Weesner-McKinley is admitted to practice before all the Courts in the State of California, as well as the United States District Court for the Central, Southern and Northern Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Weesner-McKinley is a member of the American Bar Association and Phi Delta Phi.
Education
Ms. Weesner-McKinley received her B.A. from the University of San Diego in Political Science. She received her J.D. from University of San Diego, School of Law, in 2011 where she graduated cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
