PRACTICE AREAS

General municipal, transactional and real estate law. Ms. Stone primarily advises the Department of Economic and Property Development, Department of Financial Management, and Office of the City Manager for Filming and Special Events.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Ms. Stone primarily practices in the areas of real estate, municipal law, public contracts, and related transactional matters, and advises various City departments and negotiates contracts on their behalf. She also advises various bureaus within the Financial Management Department and advises the City Clerk Department on election matters. Ms. Stone advises the Budget Oversight Committee, Investment Advisory Committee, and Arts, Culture and Tourism Committee on constitutional law issues, the Public Records Act and the Brown Act.

Prior to joining the City Attorney’s office, Ms. Stone worked in private practice as the founding attorney for Stone Law Firm, PC, an outside general counsel and transactional law firm based in Long Beach, CA. Ms. Stone also served as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the City of Long Beach.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Ms. Stone is a member of the State Bar of California. She is admitted to practice before all Courts of the State of California, as well as the United States District Court for the Central District.
Ms. Stone is a member of the Long Beach Bar Association and the current President of the Long Beach Barristers.

EDUCATION

Ms. Stone received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
