Background and Experience
Mr. Mais presently serves as the Assistant City Attorney overseeing the Departmental Counsel section of the City Attorney's office. Mr. Mais regularly attends and counsels the Long Beach City Council, Long Beach Planning Commission and the Airport Advisory Commission. He provides legal assistance on such issues as land use and planning, building regulations, environmental regulations, airport and aviation law, open meeting and conflict of interest regulations, and nuisance abatement.
Professional Affiliations
Mr. Mais is admitted to practice law in California and before the United States District Court for the Central and Southern Districts as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. Mr. Mais is a member of the California State Bar Association (Public and Environmental Law sections) and the Long Beach Bar Association. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Directors of the Young Horizons Foundation and is a Past President of the City Attorneys Association of Los Angeles County (CAALAC).
Education
Mr. Mais received his Juris Doctor in 1979 from the University of San Diego, School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at San Diego in 1976.
