I Was Bitten by a Dog or Cat...What happens now?
Important steps to protect your health and follow local regulations
- Report the Bite - medical attention is recommended.
- Document Bite - Bite should be evaluated and documented with a photo.
- Verify Rabies Vaccination - Owner provides proof of current rabies vaccine.
- 10-Day Quarantine - Animal is quarantined at home or local animal services shelter in their jurisdiction depending on the circumstances.
- Observation Period - Animal monitored for signs of illness and isolated in strict confinement.
- Quarantine Ends - Owner notified once cleared by Animal Control Officer.
No Proof of Vaccination? Medical attention is recommended. Report bite to THE ANIMAL CONTROL AGENCY IN THE JURISDICTION IN WHICH THEY WERE BITTEN
