DrE2_1DR. LOREN ESLINGER, DVM, ABVP

(APRIL 20, 1954 - DECEMBER 10, 2009)

After decades of service to the people and animals of Long Beach, a champion and friend to many has passed-away. In her lifetime, Dr. Loren Eslinger, owner of Belmont Shore Animal Hospital for over (13) years, had many achievements as a nationally recognized Diplomate certified veterinarian, Health and Human Services Board Member for (8) years, and "Hero to Animals Award" recipient; but to many, she is remembered most for her decades of volunteer work with her local shelter.

"The City of Long Beach was safer for people and animals as a result of her service", states Ron Arias, Director of the Health and Human Services Department, "she provided leadership at a critical point in our history that has resulted in better health outcomes for thousands of animals in our care." Under Dr. Elsinger as the Consulting Veterinarian, the Live Release rate at Animal Care Services rose nearly (14) percent in just two years.

The family of Dr. Eslinger has asked that contributions in her memory be made to support ongoing efforts to end pet overpopulation, a cause that she championed throughout her life. The Dr. Loren Eslinger Spay and Neuter Fund has been established at Long Beach Animal Care Services where she served for decades, to support the following activities:
