LBACS at the Bob Long Memorial Mutt Run
Release Date: 2023-12-14
Come and join Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) at the upcoming Bob Long Memorial Mutt Run on Saturday, February 17, 2024. This event, organized by the Rotary Club of Signal Hill, aims to honor the memory of Bob Long, an esteemed Rotarian, philanthropist, and advocate for animals who passed away in 2022. All breeds of dogs and dog lovers are welcome to participate in this exciting event!
A portion of the proceeds raised from the Bob Long Memorial Mutt Run will support LBACS's mission of Compassion Saves. This mission focuses on providing outreach, education, guidance, and support services to both the people and animals of our community. By participating in this event, you are directly contributing to this meaningful cause.
The race will kick off at the picturesque Claremont Launch Ramp, located at 5350 E. Ocean Blvd. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning shoreline of Long Beach as they make their way along the designated race course. Convenient parking options are available at the 54th & Claremont lot as well as the neighboring La Verne lot.
Participants can choose to run a 5k without their dogs at 8:00 am. The main 5k race will commence at 9:00 am, followed by the 1k race at 9:45 am. It's important to note that while you can walk or run with or without your furry companion, all dogs must be leashed during the event for safety purposes.
As an added bonus, there will be a vibrant post-race festival, giving everyone the chance to unwind and celebrate their achievements. LBACS will also be hosting an adoption event at the finish line, offering the opportunity to bring home a new furry family member.
Please be advised that the Bob Long Memorial Mutt Run has a maximum capacity of 400 participants. Sign up now before registration fills up!
