Current and Ongoing Projects

The Facilities Management Bureau has a strong past of providing the City and community with new, upgraded, and improved facilities. Among the many City facilities undertaken in the past year, the following are those that particularly stood out as outstanding accomplishments.

Citywide Critical Facilities Repairs Program

The Citywide Critical Facilities Repair Program is intended to preserve and protect existing city facilities. City facilities were formally assessed and assigned a Facilities Condition Index (FCI.) The FCI represents the cost percentage of the portion of the building that needs to be repaired compared to its total replacement cost pursuant to ascertaining its continued usability. In this process we’ve discovered in concrete terms that many City facilities are old and in need of either repair or replacement. Due to budget constraints, maintenance and repair schedules had been deferred. While full funding to catch up on all deferred maintenance is highly unlikely, the Project Management Division of the Facilities Bureau strives to effectively and strategically expend the limited funding available on priority projects and needed City buildings via this vital program. As such this year we have dedicated the funds to replace the failing roofs at seven (7) City facilities including two City libraries, four fire stations, and the City’s Main Senior Center. When completed, these building roofing and upgrade projects will result in an overall positive impact on the City’s overall FCI and will extend the usability of the facilities involved for many years to come.
