Airport Bureau

The purpose of the Airport Bureau is to provide safety, security, maintenance, noise compatibility compliance, and business support services to airport users and airport based businesses so they can access price competitive air transportation facilities and services that meet federal and state operating and environmental standards, and to manage/minimize environmental impacts on the community.

• Administration Division
  • Administration division is responsible for records, personnel, budgeting, planning and development of publicly owned facilities at the Airport. Areas of responsibility include accounting, budget, and personnel.
• Operations Division
  • Airport Operations division has overall responsibility for aiport infrastructure planning, airfield management through the coordination of airfield activities, and maintenance oeprations. Operations is also responsible for ensuring compliance with City, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements and safety regulations.
• Public Affairs Division
  • Airport Public Affairs is responsible for media support, community outreach, volunteer and tour guide programs, promotional events, conventions, and annual aviation events. Public Affairs is also responsible for the Airport's noise abatement program, and the enforcement of the City's Airport Noise Compatibility Ordinance.
• Properties and Business Division
  • The Properties and Business Division provides airport/airline-related facility and lease management services to tenants, passengers and general aviation users. These services includ food, beverage and retail concessions, rental cars, parking and ground transportation. Approximately 200 business are located in the Airport Area complex, which is bounded by Cherry Avenue and Clark Avenue, Carson Street and the 405 freeway. These business includ Boeing, Long Beach Airport, JetBlue Airways, Marriott Hotel, Skylinks Golf Course and the Kilroy Business Parking provide some 14,000 jobs.
