On Friday, February 21, 2014, 24 year-old Christopher Lane was shot and killed at 59th Street and Linden Avenue in Long Beach.  Detectives worked diligently on the case, which led to the arrest of two individuals responsible for this violent act.   

On March 7, 2014, at approximately 5:30 p.m., long beach detectives arrested David Smith, a 25 year-old resident of Long Beach, and James Smith, a 21 year-old resident of Long Beach,  in the 400 block of W. Century Blvd in the City of Los Angeles. 

On March 10, 2014, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office filed murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and gang enhancement charges against both individuals. James and David Smith are each being held on $1,000,000 bail at the Long Beach Jail.
