Today (6/3/14) at approximately 13:30, a vehicle travelling west bound on 7th street (at Santiago Ave) came off the roadway, across an alleyway, and crashed through a garage door. The front portion of the vehicle passed through the back garage wall and severed the large gas main supplying the attached residence. A solo female driver in her late 30's was assisted by LBFD and transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Power to homes in the area were also shut down as a precautionary measure, while Long Beach Gas Department assisted in securing the free flowing natural gas leak.

Homes in the immediate vicinity were evacuated while the natural gas was uncontrolled. Residents have since been allowed to return without incident. Detours to traffic in the area have been cleared.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by LBPD. No other details are available at this time.
