SPANISH LANGUAGE COMMUNITY POLICE ACADEMY Start Date: October 8, 2009 Graduation Date: December 10, 2009
The Long Beach Police Department, in conjunction with the Chief’s Latino Advisory Group, is presenting a Spanish Language Community Police Academy to members of the Spanish speaking community.
Participants will gain an understanding of the Long Beach Police Department as well as insight into the Criminal Justice System. Information on topics such as Patrol Operations, Investigations, Gang Enforcement, Juvenile Operations, Police “911” Communications Center, and other related fields will be provided by Police Department experts. In addition, participants will be able to participate in a variety of department activities, such as tours, and have the opportunity to participate in a patrol ride-along. The classes will be taught in the Spanish language.
The Spanish Community Police Academy will meet every Thursday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm beginning October 8, 2009 for nine consecutive weeks ending December 10, 2009. Each session will be held at the Long Beach Police Department’s Public Safety Building, 400 West Broadway Avenue, Long Beach. A graduation celebration will be held at the conclusion of the Academy.
The requirements to attend the Spanish Community Police Academy are: - Live or work in the City of Long Beach - Minimum age of 18 years - No outstanding warrants, pending criminal cases, or felony convictions - Applicants must pass a live-scan fingerprint background check
