LIVESCAN (FINGERPRINTING) FEES AND HOURS
The following applicants will be fingerprinted Monday through Friday (except holidays) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. No fees will be charged.

City of Long Beach Business Licenses and Police Permits - Applicants who require a Police Department background investigation are fingerprinted on Tuesdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and on Thursdays between 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The fee is $57. Please see "Business Licenses and Permits" below.
State Licenses (i.e. teachers, foster parents, real estate brokers/agents) - Applicants may be fingerprinted at the Long Beach Police Department by appointment only. Applicants should contact the Live Scan Office at (562) 570-5142 to schedule an appointment. You will be advised of the fees at that time.

BUSINESS LICENSES AND PERMITS
Prior to requesting a police permit and/or background investigation for a business license the following categories of businesses must apply for a business license at City Hall (333 West Ocean Boulevard, 4th floor). Once the appropriate fees have been paid, applicants may proceed to the Police Department for further processing.
All applicants must complete the "Police Department Request for Background Investigation" form, pay all required fees at the Business Desk and be fingerprinted. Applicants may then proceed as indicated below.
The following applicants should report to Vice Investigations/Special Permits on the 3rd floor of the Police Department. For further information please contact (562) 570-7219, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The following applicants must complete the Police Department "Notification of License or Permit Application" (form F-533). After paying the required fees at the Business Desk and being fingerprinted, applicants should report to the Burglary/Pawnshop Detail on the 3rd floor of the Police Department. *The initial fee for a Second Hand Dealer license will be $239 (DOJ application fee is $195, DOJ fingerprint fee is $32 and the City fee is $12). Each additional owner or business partner listed on the application form will be charged $44.
Miscellaneous Permits (Exceptions) - The following permit applicants do not require a Business License from City Hall.
The following applicants must pay fees and be fingerprinted before proceeding to Vice Investigations/Special Permits on the 3rd floor of the Police Department. These applications are accepted on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
