| |  |  |  | | | | Commander Billy Quach began his law enforcement career with the Long Beach Police Department in 1987. His previous assignments include Patrol, Business Desk, J-Car, Sex Crimes, Child Abuse, Academy, Vice, and PAL. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 and worked all four Patrol Divisions. In 1998, he was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to oversee a Patrol Watch in South Division, East Division, and the Communication Division. From January 2001 to November 2001, he served as the Acting Commander of the East Patrol Division. Commander Quach was promoted to his current rank in January 2003 and assigned to oversee the Youth Services Division, East Patrol Division, West Patrol Division, North Patrol Division, and currently, the Gang and Violent Crimes Division. From October 2009 to March 2010, Commander Quach served as the Interim Police Chief. Commander Quach holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Long Beach. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, West Point Leadership Program, Supervisory Leadership Institute, and the USC Delinquency Control Institute. His professional recognition includes the California Peace Officers Association-Professional Achievement Award, the National Asian Peace Officers Association-Leadership Award, and the 2010 Long Beach Police Department-Excellence in Leadership Award. Commander Quach is married to his wife, Cheng-Lung Wei, who is the Support Bureau Secretary and has been with the Police Department for 24 years. They have two children, Tiffany and Nicholas, who are currently enrolled in the University of California school system. | | |
