| |  |  |  | | | TRAINING DIVISION Training Division Commander The Training Division is responsible for all training provided to members of the Long Beach Police Department. This includes the 27-week Basic Academy for the training of Police Recruits as well as the ongoing professional training of police officers throughout their career. Officers comply with Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) minimum requirements as well as legislative and OSHA mandates. The Training Division is also responsible for overseeing Manuals and Orders, In Service Training, Human Relations and Diversity Training, Recruitment, Backgrounds, and the Police Pistol Range. The Division is responsible for conducting all background investigations for Police Officer recruits, civilian employees, volunteers, and Long Beach Fire Fighter recruits. The Department makes every effort to hire the most qualified employees for all available positions to ensure the best service is provided to our community. The Training Division also administers the Community Police Academy. This is a 15-week program during which community members can become acquainted with the practices and procedures of the Long Beach Police Department and law enforcement in general.
