TRAINING DIVISION The Training Division conducts all background investigations for Police Officer recruits, non-sworn police employees, and Long Beach Firefighter recruits. This Division administers one of the few 26-week Basic Recruit and Level-1 Reserve Recruit academies still operated by a local Police Department. They directly supervise the Manuals and Orders Section, the In-Service Training Section,the Advanced Officer Training Section, Human Relations and Diversity Training, Recruitment and the Police Firearms Range. The Training Division also administers a 15-week “Community Police Academy” during which citizens can become acquainted with the practices and procedures of the Long Beach Police Department and law enforcement in general.
