| |  |  |  | The Long Beach Police Department's Office of Counter Terrorism  The Long Beach Police Department’s Office of Counter Terrorism (OCT) is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and investigating criminal intelligence related to international and domestic terrorism, organized crime, and extremist activity. OCT detectives serve with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and work closely with local, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies related to criminal intelligence matters. | | The Office of Counter Terrorism maintains a public tip line and an e-mail address to report suspicious activity: iWATCH, iREPORT, i KEEP US SAFE (iWATCH) is a community awareness program created to educate the public about behaviors and activities that may have a connection to terrorism. This program is a community program to help your neighborhood stay safe from terrorist activities. It is a partnership between your community and the Long Beach Police Department. We can and must work together to prevent terrorist attacks.

ANONYMOUS WEB AND TEXT CRIME TIP PROGRAM Q. How do I submit a tip via text messaging? A. To text a tip to the Long Beach Police Department (L.B.P.D.), you must have text messaging capabilities on your cell phone and subscribe to a participating cell phone carrier. While handset menus differ by carrier or model, here are some basic steps on how to compose a text message. 1. Find “Messaging” or “SMS” (short message service) on your cell phone’s menu. 2. Compose a new text message or SMS text message. 3. When composing your message: · Enter the number 274637 as the mobile # or in the “to” line. · In the message body, type the word “LBPD” followed by a space and then your crime tip information. 4. Hit “Send” to send the message. 5. You will receive your unique initial encrypted identifier shortly, which will start the secure and anonymous text dialogue.
A Message from the Long Beach Police Department International developments indicate that there is still a significant risk of terrorist attacks from established terror groups and their symphathizers. Lowering the threat level, however, indicates that certain security measures can be altered to meet the lowered threat condition.
