The critical role of the police communications in the contemporary law enforcement environment dictates the need for highly dedicated and self-motivated individuals.  Professional demeanor and a strong personal desire to provide effective service must be the primary goal of the men and women who provide the critical link between the needs of the community and the resources of the Police Department.  As a member of the Communications Center, the Public Safety Dispatcher is an integral part of the total police services team, working towards the goals and objectives of the Police Department.  The police communications center is the primary answering point for all 9-1-1 calls including cell phones.  In 2008 the Police Communications answered a total of 601,624 phone calls.
