| Deputy Chief Jeffrey J. Craig

| Deputy Chief Craig joined the Department in 1982. He is currently the Deputy Chief of the Support Bureau in command of the Jail, Communications, Academy/Training Divisions as well as the Information Technology Section.
Chief Craig’s police experience includes assignments in Patrol, Narcotics Enforcement Team and Drug Investigations Section. In 1988, he was promoted to Sergeant with assignments that included Gang Enforcement Section, Metropolitan Division/Special Enforcement Section and SWAT. In 1997, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he worked Patrol, Special Enforcement Section, SWAT and Vice. In 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Commander. As Commander, he had been assigned to the Communications and West Patrol Divisions as well as Chief of Staff working in the office of the Chief of Police. He was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2006. Deputy Chief Craig is the current President of the Police Athletic League Board of Directors and has been past President of the Long Beach Police Command Officers Association. He is also a board member for Family Service, a Long Beach non-profit organization. Chief Craig was born and raised in Long Beach. He is a graduate of Wilson High School (Class of 1979). He holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Long Beach City College in Administration of Justice, a Bachelors Degree from University of Phoenix in Business Management and a Masters Degree from University of Phoenix in Organizational Management. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government State and Local Government Program. Deputy Chief Craig is married with four children. He enjoys spending time with family, softball and golf. |
