South Division is the smallest geographical division in the city, yet accounts for the second highest calls for service demand. The Division responds to almost 45,000 calls a year. The division encompasses the area between Cherry Ave. and the Los Angeles River, Anaheim St. and the Pacific Ocean. South Division performs three core functions in order to accomplish the Department's mission: rapid response to emergency calls for service, rapid identification and response to emerging crime trends, and working together with the community to solve persistent neighborhood problems. The Department takes pride responding to emergency calls for service in less than five minutes, from initial call to police unit's arriving on scene. The South Division average response time is 3.7minutes. |
