Commander Johnson has 19 years law enforcement experience. His assignments include Patrol, Field Training Officer, Narcotics Enforcement Team, Felony Detail, Gang Detail, Community Policing Team and Special Enforcement Section. He has 12 years service on the SWAT Team in the roles of team member, team leader, tactical sergeant, and lieutenant.
Commander Johnson has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach. He is also a graduate of the Supervisory Leadership Institute and FBI National Academy. He has received the SWAT Commitment to Excellence Award, Class A, two Unit Citations and the Jeff Young Memorial Award. Commander Johnson has two brothers and a cousin on the Department.
