| |  |  |  |  | | | Gary W. Morrison is the current Commander of the Field Support Division, the largest and most diverse division within the Patrol Bureau. He began his career with the Long Beach Police Department in October of 1987 rising to the rank of Commander in January 2006. During the course of his diverse career, Commander Morrison has worked numerous assignments. While in the Patrol Bureau, Commander Morrison has worked Patrol, Motors and was assigned to the Special Enforcement Section (SES) and was the Administrative Sergeant for the Department's Field Training Program (FTO). While serving in the Investigations Bureau, Commander Morrison headed the Youth Services Division and worked as a Detective in the Violent Crimes and Robbery Details. As a Detective Lieutenant he supervised the Gang Enforcement Section. Additionally, Commander Morrison was a member of the Department's elite SWAT Team for seven years. Commander Morrison holds an A.S. Degree in Electronic Technology, a B.A. Degree from CSULB in Geography and a M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University. Furthermore, Commander Morrison is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute (SLI) and the FBI National Academy and is a recent graduate of the West Point Leadership Program. Commander Morrison is the Executive Director of the Long Beach Police Historical Society; a member of the FBI National Academy Association; the California Police Officer's Association; the Long Beach Command Officer's Association and participated in Leadership Long Beach. He is married to his wife Robbie and has one daughter. | | |
