| Volunteer Opportunities The Volunteer Program selects, processes, assigns and tracks volunteer activities throughout the Department. Volunteers are a vital component to the function of our Department and enhance the many programs and services that we offer. Volunteer Opportunities

Senior Police Partners-This program was develop to meet the needs of both the senior community and the Police Department. The Senior Police Partners, ages 55 and older, are highly motivated and dedicated volunteers who assist seniors who have been victims of crime or are in the need of referral assistance. - Internship Program-The Long Beach Police Department offers undergrad and graduate level unpaid internship. For more information about the program call (562) 570-7102.
- Explorers-The Department has established an Explorer program for youth between the ages of 14 and 20 who are interested in a law enforcement career.
- Reserves Officer- The Reserve Police Officer works under the direction of the Chief of Police. Once the Reserve Officer is on-duty, he/she has all the responsibility and authority of a Peace Officer.
- Chaplaincy Program- Encourages volunteer clergy who desire to serve the City of Long Beach, to ride along with the officers and provide additional support in critical situations, as well as provide counseling services to Departmental personnel. For more information call (562) 570-7402.
