Contractors or owners request inspections at key stages of construction (e.g. prior to pouring concrete, affixing drywall, etc.) to verify compliance. Satisfactory completion of the job results in occupancy being approved and connection of utilities authorized.
The City of Long Beach is divided into two inspection categories: Residential and Commercial. Each inspection category has a specific inspection area. There are 7 residential inspection areas and 3 commercial inspection areas. Each residential area and each commercial inspection area has an inspector who is responsible for to work with you to identify and resolve building and inspection issues.
Inspectors work throughout the City in the field inspecting buildings for electrical, plumbing, mechanical and building safety issues. Each inspector has extensive training and certification and is well informed in identifying electrical, plumbing, mechanical and building safety issues to help you construct a successful building project.
We can work together to effectively construct safe buildings that add to the vitality of our dynamic City. All of our inspectors are very interested in providing assistance to you on your building project and are ready to work with you!
