Charter Communications Long Beach Sea Festival

Come Join The Fun At The Long Beach Sea Festival! A boatload of summer fun is on deck for Long Beach residents and visitors at the Long Beach Sea Festival! Various activities (many of them free) are scheduled from June through August at beach areas throughout the City. Toddlers to seniors, amateurs and professionals, and seafarers and landlubbers alike will have a great adventure.

Leeway Sailing Center Sabot Regatta
August 14One of the Charter Communications Sea Festival's traditional events, designed for youngsters from 8 to 18 years who like to sail. This event features sailing competitions and is also a social event designed to emphasize the camaraderie of sailing.The event is free to spectators.

Long Beach Municipal Band
June 24-August 15 • In it’s 99th year - the Long Beach Municipal Band says "Jump On the Bandwagon!" The annual free outdoor summer concert season is presented by Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine and each week will focus on a different theme, performed by the band's professional musicians led by conductor Larry Curtis. To cap off every evening, audiences will be treated to selections from special vocalists and the Studio Band.

Thursday Twilight Concerts
June 19-August 28 • Don’t miss the free Thursday Night Twilight Concerts in the Park this summer, presented by Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine and Partners of Parks. The summer concert program has always featured Long Beach Municipal Band concerts as part of the annual Charter Sea Festival celebration and now other local bands join in and provide free concerts at additional city parks.

Model Boat RegattaModel Boat Regatta
Clyde W. Ellerman Memorial Model Sail Boat Regatta August 8 At this year's regatta, youngsters can experience the fun and excitement of testing their model boats in a fun-filled competition.The Regatta will take place at the Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach.More than 80-100 junior skippers, ages 7 to 12, are expected to compete.The handmade boats are 12 to 40 inches in length and take from 10 to 20 days to build.The event is free to spectators.

Swim meetNovice Swim & Dive Meet
Richard Miller Novice Swim MeetAugust 9 • Participants will jump into aquatics competition at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach. The annual aquatics event is a chance for youngsters to show their skills while having fun in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley. Open to all youth swimmers ages 7-17, participation is emphasized over competition.The event is free to participants and spectators.

Diving meetNovice Dive MeetAugust 10
Youth, under 17 years old, who participate in the Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Amateur Athletic Foundation (AAF) Dive Team, will dive into competition in the Novice Dive Meet on Sunday, August 10.The competition will be held at Silverado Park Pool in Long Beach.This annual aquatic event is an opportunity for these youngsters to show off their diving skills.The event is free to participants and spectators.

Youth Aquarium Visit & Harbor Cruise
July 15, 22 & August 5, 12Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine has something special for kids this summer - four Citywide Aquarium and Ocean Days on July 15 and 22, and August 5 and 12. Kids from PR&M park sites and summer programs will be bused to the Aquarium of the Pacific for a day of fun and learning. Even lunch will be provided.

Kids from PR&M park sites and summer programs will be bused to Granada Beach for a day of fun in the sun including jumpers, games and sand sculpture contests. Even lunch will be provided.

Sailing on the American Pride Sail ShipYouth Sailing on American Pride Sail Ship
Starting July 21Approximately 1,000 youth who participate in Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine’s summer programs will have the opportunity to sail on American Pride, the Tall Ship that makes it’s home in Long Beach’s Rainbow Harbor. During the three-hour sails, the kids learn about the history of the ship, sailing technique and other skills. American Pride is now known as "the children’s ship," for it’s role in educating kids about sailing and life skills such as communication, teamwork and problem solving. The sailings will take place over several days as part of the Charter Communications Long Beach Sea Festival.
