History
On April 12, 1956, a development plan was approved by the City Council. The park was completed in April 1958 with the dedication of the community recreation center. The community recreation center contains a large multi-purpose room with a raised stage and hardwood floor, a kitchen and two classrooms. Other amenities include a lighted softball field, a lighted baseball field, a lighted soccer field, four basketball courts, two tennis courts, a volleyball court, a group picnic area, a freestanding restroom and a playground for pre-school and school aged children.
In 1992, the second classroom was added to the community recreation center and the center renovated with funding from the state Parks Bond Act of 1988. The playground equipment was redeveloped in 1995; the field lighting replaced and sports fields renovated in 1996, and the restroom retiled in 1998 with funding from the Los Angeles County Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Act of 1992. American’s with Disabilities Act Transition Plan accessibility improvements were completed in 2004 with funding from the Community Development Block Grants.
