The Dog Zone is nearly three acres of shore available for off-leash exercise. The Dog Zone is not a dedicated “dog beach.”This recreational opportunity is overseen by the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, with the assistance of the Recreation Dog Park Association. The Long Beach Dog Zone was recognized by the California Parks and Recreation Society with a Facility Design and Park Planning Award in 2003. The judges noted the successful efforts to consider aesthetics, environmental protection, and community use in creating a place for dogs and dog owners to recreate along the beach in their own community.
