Dry Boat Storage

The Long Beach Marine Bureau offers several near-water options for members of the public to store their small recreational water crafts as well as small boats on mobile trailers, available through the issuance of a storage permit. These options include: 

Alamitos Bay Dry Boat StorageBayshoreRacks1_1

Located at Ocean Blvd. and 54th Place, at Long Beach’s Alamitos Bay area, public storage is available for small vessels. This storage area features elevated storage racks, a secure eight (8) foot fenced perimeter (accessible to customers 24 hour a day), as well as an available wash down area. The storage racks are custom built to accommodate the following vessel types: 

  • Kayaks 22' 0" maximum
  • Sail Boats 15' 2" maximum
  • Sabots 8' 0" maximum
  • Canoes 21' 0" maximum
  • Windsurf and Paddle Boards Standard sizes

The PVC racks have weight, height and width restrictions to ensure structural adequacy. Although mast up storage is not available, storage for masts can be accommodated. Permittees must provide their own cable and lock for their vessel.

Other Permit Requirements: 

  • Permittee must be the legal owner of the vessel
  • Proof of ownership required
  • Picture of the vessel is required
  • Permits are not transferable to another party
  • One vessel per rack only (additional vessels require additional permits)
  • All City of Long Beach Codes, Parks, Recreation and Marine Bureau Policies and Marina Rules and Regulations that pertain to the racks are in effect. Launch Ramp Fees are not included as part of storage permits.

Marine Stadium Dry Boat Storage (for vessels on mobile trailers)

Dry Boat Web Trailer(1)Located on Boathouse Lane, at the north end of Marine Stadium, at Long Beach’s Alamitos Bay, public storage is available for vessels on trailers, not exceeding 25 feet overall (total length for vessel and trailer). This storage area features individual trailer parking stalls, a secure fenced perimeter with windscreen (accessible to customers 24 hour a day), and water for flush out or wash down. This location is nearby several of the City’s public launch ramp facilities.

Other Permit Requirements:

  • Permittee must be the legal owner of the vessel and trailer and provide proof of ownership of both
  • Picture of vessel required
  • Permits are not transferable to another party
  • Vessel repairs, painting and leaving vehicle and other items at space is not allowed
  • Vessel CF number to be displayed on vessel cover
  • Some width and height restrictions apply
  • All City of Long Beach Codes, Parks, Recreation and Marine Bureau Policies and Marina Rules and Regulations that pertain to the storage area are in affect. Launch Ramp Fees are not included as part of storage permits.

Peninsula Sandstake/Rings

Located on the bayside of the Peninsula along Alamitos Bay. These beach moorings are available to the public, however are very popular and typically there is a long waiting lists are in place for future customers.

Other Permit Requirements:

  • Permittee must be the legal owner of vessel(s)
  • 16' Max Length
  • 4' Max width including holder
  • 4' Max height unless at specified mast up location
  • Up to 3 vessels max allowed at each stake (per permit) within above requirements/restrictions
  • Picture of vessel(s) at stake required
  • Permits not transferable to another party
  • All City of Long Beach Codes, Parks, Recreation and Marine Bureau Policies and Marina Rules and Regulations that pertain to the stakes/rings are in affect.
