Highlight of the Month
Is Walking in Nature your Passion? If you love and want to lend a hand while hiking at the Nature Center, consider joining the Trail Stewards volunteer program. After attending three training sessions, you'll be ready to share with visitors information about the wonderful history and wildlife that make El Dorado Nature Center a treasure of Long Beach. To gain all the benefits of the Trail Stewards program, attending all three training days is required. For more information and to register, contact Susan Ettinger at (562) 570-1749. 1st Saturday Stewards – Service Learning Opportunity Students, interns, volunteers, join us in cleaning the stream, clearing the trails, pulling weeds or painting the benches. Give us a call to let us know you are coming so we'll be sure to have enough rakes and shovels. Wear sturdy shoes. June 7, July 5, Aug. 2; 10am - noon.
Volunteer Meetings Looking for volunteer opportunities or service hours? Come to an orientation meeting to learn about what you can do at the Nature Center. We look forward to meeting you June 7, July 5, Aug 2; 9 - 9:30am.
Adopt-A-Wetland Cleanup Are you looking for a fun and easy way to give back to the environment and your community? Join us to learn more about our fragile wetland habitats and how to protect them. Third Saturday each month: 10am - Noon; Call for directions. May 17 – Golden Shore Marine Reserve; June 21 – Dunster Marine Reserve; July 19 – Sims Pond; Aug. 16 – Colorado Lagoon.
| | La Gran Limpieza – 19th Annual Great Los Angeles River Cleanup Be the solution to ocean pollution! Volunteer at the largest river cleanup and help to keep trash from reaching our shores in Long Beach. For info call 570-1749
Spring Potluck Volunteers, you are assured good food, great friends and an idyllic setting. Bring your own place setting, and enough delicious food for five. June 3 at 6pm.

Habitat Stewards Training Join us to keep El Dorado Nature Center a beautiful and healthy place for wildlife. A 3-part training session will get you ready to plant California natives at the Center this fall. Monthly meetings and work parties will provide ongoing opportunities to sharpen your skills, meet new friends and increase your knowledge base. Call (562) 570-1750 for application. Movable Museum Back by popular demand are our hands-on, programs for the classroom. Featuring artifacts for hands-on discovery, teachers can schedule: “Protect Our Watery World”, “Acorns, Sea and Sage”, or Paws and Jaws”. Availability is limited. 570-1745
Habitat Stewards If you missed the training, last fall, you can become an Intern and work along side trained volunteers on weekends and weekdays. They’ll They'll their experience to help you care for the Nature Center’s Center's plant gardens. 570- 1750 for details.
