International Migratory Bird Day

Tundra to Tropics: Connecting Birds, Habitats, and People.

Join us, as we not only celebrate our feathered friends,

but the places so many call home.

May 10; 10am – 3pm.

Rollin Down the River

May is National Bike Month. Join us on an Eco-friendly tour of the

San Gabriel River. We'll view the birds, learn about the history of the

land and explore other ways to live a more healthy sustainable life.

Program will culminate with a river cleanup. Bring your bikes and a light snack.

May 10; 10am – Noon.

Liars, Thieves and Chocolate - An Evening of Storytelling

Come delight both your stomach and your mind! Local storytellers

will bedazzle you with stories of chocolate delicacies.

Ages 12 and up, Saturday, June 7 7:30pm ; $5 donation.


Poetry Day

Some of the greatest poets in the world, such as Robert Frost,

drew inspiration from nature. Join us at the Nature Center for

a day of creation, as we celebrate nature through poetry.

June 14; 10am – 2pm.

Reptile Show - Free family fun.

Sleek and smooth, or bumpy and rough, you'll see all kinds of snakes,

lizards and amphibians. Sponsored by Southern California Herpetology Society.

June 29; 10am - 3pm.

Children's Day

Remember the times before TV and video games?

Join us at the Nature Center for an adventure in imagination.

Bring the family and rediscover the freedom of playing in nature

as you look for bugs, build a fort or just simply lie in the

grass and look at the sky. The only restriction is you.

July 12; 10am – 2pm.

Discovery Day

Ever wonder what living under the logs, or hiding in the mud
of the stream? Come dig, dip and delve into the
mysteries hidden at the Nature Center.

August 23; 10am – 2pm.






2008 International Coastal Cleanup

Join citizens from around the world to clean up our
beaches and wetlands. Cleanup will take place at beaches
throughout the city. For more info, and group registration,
call 570-1749. Saturday, Sept. 20; 9am - Noon.

Cultural Rhythms

Celebrate summer at the Nature Center every third Wednesday
with music from our rich and diverse community. June 18 we'll mark June-tenth
with a celebration of black culture. July 16 will reflect the music of the Celts.
Aug. 20 will give us an opportunity to share Cambodian traditions and
Sept. 17 will bring a celebration of Mexican Independence Day.
Bring low chairs or blankets and an earth-friendly picnic dinner.

Gates open at 6:30pm; concert from 7 - 8pm.

Pre-registration is required for all classes.


Evening Campfire

Get the family together for an hour and head outside
for some fresh air, relaxation, stories,
games and laughs around the campfire. 7:30-8:30 pm.

Naturalist Weekends

Join a naturalist out on the trail for activities discovery
the wonders of the Nature Center. Saturdays and Sundays.


Family Nightlife Walk

Looking for an alternative to the computer and TV?
Bring the kids to the Nature Center for a
naturalist-led walk on the trails.

May 6, June 10, 24, July 8, 22, Aug. 12 ;

Sept. 2, 23; 7 – 9pm; $3 per person.

Simple Saturdays

Celebrate the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable

Development by visiting the Nature Center on the

2nd Saturday of each month. You'll have a chance to

discover new and simple ways you can live a healthier, happier life.

June 14, July 12, Aug 9; Sept. 3; 10am -3:30pm.



Andy Goldsworthy Day
Join artists and friends in creating art from found objects along the trail.
Bring joy, the land will provide the inspiration.
July 26, 12 – 3pm.


Evening Campfire

Butterfly Display

Visit the Butterfly Table and interact with a

Solstice Campfire

Join us as we celebrate the longest day of the year

and the beginning of the summer season. June 20; 7 – 9pm ; $3 per person.


Annual Butterfly Count

Help gather important data about which species are

making the Nature Center home. Beginner's welcome.

Bring water, sun protection and a sack lunch.

June 28, 8am -12pm or 12:30 – 3pm.

North American Butterfly Association fee of $3 per person.


Wondrous Weekends

Look for special naturalist walks and displays along the trail.

Every Saturday and Sunday.

“The Perseid's”
Every year in August, these beautiful meteors return, carrying a trail
of history, myth, and ancient stories told around
countless campfires. Aug 9, 8-10pm. $4 per person.
