PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION COMMITTEES
1. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Meets the second Wednesday of each month in Phil Hesters office at 4:30 p.m. (this is the Wednesday a week before the Commission meeting)
Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ Meet with Director to review overall progress of planned projects.
¨ Provide feedback to Director on major new projects for land acquisition or other unscheduled project.
¨ Provide input and feedback for annual departmental budget priorities and other issues.
¨ Oversee Department Strategic Plan
2. FINANCE AND APPEALS COMMITTEE

Meetings scheduled as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ Annual review of proposed fees and charges.
¨ Review and comment on annual budget recommendations.
¨ Act as official appeals board for fee and contract disputes (as stipulated in City Charter).
¨ FOR Long Beach work plan.
3. PARK SAFETY COMMITTEE

Meets on a quarterly basis at 8:15 a.m., immediately prior to the Commission meeting in February, May, August, and November.
Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ Review Park Ranger Program.
¨ Review and evaluate park crime data from City Departments.
¨ Develop plan to address park safety issues.
4. MARKETING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE COMMITTEE

Meets on a quarterly basis at 8:15 a.m., immediately prior to the Commission meeting in March, June, September, and December.
Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ To support Department efforts and identify opportunities to enhance customer service.
¨ Review of Department mailing plans.
Committee to meet to discuss proposed duties and responsibilities.
5. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE

Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ Park Impact Fees.
¨ Joint School/Park Acquisition and Development.
¨ Open space element of the General Plan update.
¨ Maintenance of facilities parks.
