General Plan Update
Land Use and Mobility Elements To Be Discussed
Join the City of Long Beach in setting the course for development in Long Beach for the next 20 years.  The City has launched a major planning program to update the Land Use and Mobility Elements of the City’s General Plan.  The General Plan expresses the long-range land use goals and objectives for the City.  The City has been meeting with 125 community representatives since January 2004 to outline a vision for the future.

The City wants to hear from you!  The City of Long Beach will be hosting a series of public workshops on the principles and concepts of the General Plan.

The first meeting will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2005 from 8:30 AM to 12 PM at Long Beach Energy (2400 East Spring Street). The topics to discuss include:

How to provide more open space and community facilities?

How to manage expected population growth?

What are appropriate building heights between adjacent residential and commercial areas?

Where are the opportunities for change?

Where should pedestrian-orientation be enhanced?
