While attempting to serve a court sanctioned gang injunction, officers arrested six people, seized eight weapons including, 2 assault rifles, 1 sawed off shotgun, 1 submachine gun, 1 sawed off 22-caliber rifle and 3 handguns. Also seized was a large amount of ammunition, 3 bulletproof vests and one pound of methamphetamine.
In December 2004, Long Beach City Prosecutor Tom Reeves filed a civil injunction against active members of the street gang known as the West Side Longos. This injunction prohibits members of that gang from a variety of legal and illegal activity in a specific area.
On January 2nd, patrol officers from the west division, went to the 1500 block of 23rd street to serve one of the members named in the injunction. While at the location, the officers’ investigation led to a search of the residence, which resulted in the discovery of the weapons and narcotics.
The six adults arrested for various weapons and narcotics charges were identified as: Ignacio Jiminez 31 years old, from Long Beach, Joseph Estrada 22 year old from Long Beach, Ricardo Aguiar 22 year old from Long Beach, Jimmy Montoya 32 year old from Santa Ana, Sara Leong 27 year old from Long Beach and Jessica Vargas 26 years old from Long Beach.
