Volunteer Open House at Rancho Los Cerritos
Find out about extraordinary volunteer opportunities at Rancho Los Cerritos and learn about the Rancho's many exciting public and behind-the-scenes programs at our Volunteer Open House on Wednesday, February 12, from 5:30-7 p.m. Interested individuals will be able to discover or rediscover this National and State Historic Landmark museum, fondly known as the Roots of Long Beach! RSVP today at (562) 570-1755.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Rancho Los Cerritos. Volunteers assist the Rancho with a number of activities such as giving tours of the adobe house and gardens, staffing the visitor center, working in the museum shop, helping with special events, performing research, gardening, and so much more. The Volunteer Open House will cover topics that highlight how individuals can give back to their community in a fun, educational and meaningful way!

Furthermore, interested individuals who want to become docents and give tours to the general public can sign up for our ten-week evening training course which begins February 26. Those who prefer to give garden tours can join the Friday morning class that starts on March 14. Details will be provided at the volunteer information days.

Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site is located at 4600 Virginia Road in Long Beach. Built in 1844, the adobe home and grounds of Rancho Los Cerritos echo with the rich history of Spanish, Mexican, and American California and with the families who helped transform Southern California from its ranching beginnings to the modern, urban society it is today. The two-story Monterey-style adobe is primarily furnished to reflect occupants and lifestyles from the 1860s-1880s. The site, a National, State and Long Beach Historic Landmark, also includes historic gardens and a research library and archives. The Rancho is operated by the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation in public-private partnership with the City of Long Beach.
