Local pet owners and animal lovers can now easily search for adoptable cats and dogs, find local dog parks, search impounded animals and locate emergency and after-hours veterinary facilities with the new Long Beach Animal Care Services (ACS) mobile application.
"This new App will help current pet owners find services and facilities for their animal friends, and for future pet owners to discover and share adoptable animals through social media, text messages and email," Mayor Bob Foster said.
The free App includes social media feeds, videos and other services and programs from Animal Care Services. In addition, App users can receive notifications from ACS with news and updates about upcoming low-cost clinics and special events.
The App, called "Long Beach Animal Care Services," is available on iTunes and Google Play. The App joins the rest of the Go Long Beach family of Apps, including Go Long Beach, Go Long Beach Public Library and Go Long Beach Police. The apps, along with other technological initiatives, help the City enhance service to residents and businesses and to be named a Top-10 Digital City for three years in a row.
The goal of Long Beach Animal Care Services is to make Long Beach the safest large city in California for people and animals through the promotion of responsible pet ownership and recreation. LBACS serves 600,000 residents and pets in Long Beach, Cerritos, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos and Signal Hill.
Animal Care Services is located at the P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village at 7700 East Spring Street in Long Beach. The Village is open Wednesday through Friday 10 am - 5:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am - 4 pm, and is closed on Mondays, Tuesday and holidays.
