Councilwoman Schipske Announces Budget Surplus for 5th District

Third Time in Four Years; Surplus Funds to Be Used for Libraries and Parks

Long Beach, CA – December 5, 2015 – Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske today announced that due to careful management of resources, her office will realize a $18,173.44 surplus from the FY 2013 budget cycle.

“I am pleased to announce that we have a surplus in our district budget and that we will be able to forward these funds for programming use by both Parks, Recreation and Marine and Library Services departments,” says Schipske.

Schipske has managed a surplus in three of her last four budgets. “In FY 2012, we ran over budget by $3,400 due to last minute charges we received from our IT department. So that amount was taken out of my FY 2013 budget. In all then, we came in under budget in FY 2013 by over $22,000.”

Each Council district is appropriated the exact same amount of funds for its annual budget.
