Councilwoman Schipske, Senator Lara, State Board of Equalization, CA Chamber of Commerce Present Free Small Business Seminar, Focus on Strategies for Success
Long Beach, CA – March 21, 2013 – In an effort to help Long Beach small businesses to succeed, new business owners, entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, professionals currently running a business, and individuals who want to improve their business a free all day seminar: Strategies for Success is being offered at Long Beach City College on Thursday, April 4. Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske, CA Senator Ricardo Lara, State Board of Equalization Chairman Jerome E. Horton, and Vice Chair Michelle Steel, in partnership with the California Chamber of Commerce, are sponsoring the event.
“Small business owners need all the help they can get in this economic climate. This seminar will help guide entrepreneurs in best business practices, what they need to keep track of, how to add government contracting to their revenue stream. This is a terrific opportunity to get questions answered and learn how to avoid problems,” commented Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske.
The seminar will cover new permit holder training, audit and compliance issues, sources of funding, government sub-contracting, forms of ownership, employment taxes, business marketing, and record keeping and tax tips. Presentations by the State Board of Equalization, Internal Revenue Service, Franchise Tax Board, Employment Development Department, U.S. Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Center – L.A. Regional Network.
The small business seminar will be held in LBCC’s Community Multi Purpose Room, T1200, 4901 East Carson Street. Parking costs $1.
