I am very pleased to announce the completion of the 3rd and final block of the Promenade in Downtown. And it looks absolutely beautiful.
An incohesive mix of vacant areas, surface parking lots and underutilized sites once characterized the Promenade.
The Promenade now features three mixed-use developments, landscape and streetscape improvements, public art plazas, Promenade Square, and a new and expanded Bikestation Long Beach that breathe life into the area.
The Promenade captures the essence of urban lifestyle, serving as a pathway to -
It has made way for a more inviting, purposeful public space where we can gather and connect with each other, enhancing the vibrancy of the Downtown.
- connect segments of the downtown core.
- transit /transit-oriented (with the Metro, LB Transit and Bikestation)
- dining and entertainment
- arts and culture
- education (Charter College)
- urban housing
The completion celebrates a new open space that has attracted multiple businesses such as Congregation Ale House, Beachwood BBQ, Harvelle's and very soon, Michael's Pizzeria.
Just as important - the work on the Promenade will continue to spur additional investments and renewal in the Downtown area.
At the Groundbreaking, I said, "Good things are happening in Downtown!".Today, good things have happened and are still happening in the Downtown!
My sincere thanks to everyone who worked very hard during these last five years to bring Downtown and Long Beach, a new and improved Promenade.
This is Your Promenade - So Enjoy!
