Closure of Eastbound Ocean Blvd. Nov. 30 - Dec. 3
Closure of Eastbound Ocean Blvd. Nov. 30-Dec. 3
Repaving project to detour traffic next weekend

Eastbound Ocean Boulevard between the Gerald Desmond Bridge and downtown Long Beach will be closed for repaving from 10 p.m. Friday, November 30, until 5 a.m. Monday, December 3. The I-710 Freeway northbound from Ocean Boulevard will remain open during construction.

In addition, the on-ramp from Pico Avenue to the westbound Gerald Desmond Bridge will also be closed during the same time for repaving.

The closures starting November 30 through December 3 are the first of three weekend closures that are scheduled to continue on the weekends of December 7 and December 14 as crews complete the pavement improvement project on Ocean between the Desmond Bridge and downtown Long Beach.

The Port of Long Beach is committed to keeping Harbor District roadways maintained in good condition and to minimizing the impacts of construction on motorists and businesses.

Throughout the closures, signs will guide motorists to detours. For example, motorists going eastbound on the Gerald Desmond Bridge to Pico Avenue or downtown Long Beach on the November 30-December 3 weekend will be directed to go north on the I-710 Freeway, then exit at Anaheim Street, either eastbound or westbound, depending on their destination. Traffic on Pico Avenue seeking to cross to Terminal Island will be directed up to West Anaheim Street to bypass the bridge.
