Long Beach Residents Invited To Nominate Outstanding Good Neighbors

Award Ceremony Bringing Community Members Together At Good Neighbor Festival

(LONG BEACH, CA; August 2, 2012) – Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske is inviting residents to nominate individuals and/or organizations to be considered for a Good Neighbor Award.  The selection is being made to honor and acknowledge those who are making a significant impact in improving their community.

The winners will be announced at the 6th annual Good Neighbor Festival and Family Picnic at Good Neighbor Park on Saturday, September 29th, from 10 am to 3 pm directly in front of the Senior Center at El Dorado Park, located at 2800 N. Studebaker Rd., Long Beach, 90815.

“Our Good Neighbor Award nominations are a reflection of pro-active citizens involved in acknowledging those who have displayed the most effort and goodwill in improving the City of Long Beach ", says Councilwoman Schipske. 

To submit a nomination for a Good Neighbor Award, residents can simply email their contact information, along with the contact information of their nominee at district5@longbeach.gov.  As well, residents can mail their nomination to Councilwoman Schipske at her Neighborhood Office at 2760 N. Studebaker Road, Long Beach, CA.

The Good Neighbor Festival itself will feature a variety of booths; that will include 5th District neighborhood organizations, non-profit organizations, city departments, activities and games for children, a modern day and historical fire truck, and free hot dogs and hamburgers.

“The festival is a great opportunity for community organizations and businesses to share information and outreach with residents of the 5th Council District”, adds Councilwoman Schipske.
