wanted to keep you up to date on a few events happening this week in Downtown Long Beach:
Fresh & Easy Opening Today
The Downtown Fresh & Easy opens today at 10am in Downtown Long Beach at Promenade & 5th Street in the City Place Center. This new store will increase local access to fresh foods and serve as a new retail anchor for the Downtown. Additionally, I ask that you continue to support the Kress Market on Pine Ave & 5th. This mom & pop grocery and deli has some of the best healthy food options in the city, including the best Turkey & Avocado sandwich in Long Beach.
En La Noche @ Museum of Latin American Art This Thursday
Join us for a FREE night at the Museum of Latin American Art this Thursday night from 6 - 9pm. The event includes a Classic Drifter Car Show including the famous "Gypsy Rose" car, Tequila Tasting, Live Mariachi's, Live DJ's spinning Latin Electronic Fusion, Food, and tours of the museum. All Long Beach residents are invited. Please RSVP by emailing my office at email@example.com, or go the Facebook invite here.
PARK(ing) Day & Twilight Walk This Friday
This Friday, there will be two great events happening in Downtown. Throughout the day will be the 3rd Annual Park(ing) Day Long Beach, were community residents and organizations will create mini-parks out of metered parking spaces for the day. I participated in the first PARK(ing) Day 3 years ago, and am proud to say that the North Pine Neighborhood Alliance built the first ever park for this annual event along with Studio One Eleven. You can get more info on park locations here. The photo above is of the Dog Park we built 3 years ago before I was on the Council.
Additionally, this Friday night will be the monthly Twilight Walk on Pine Avenue between 3rd & 10th. There will be music, great food and shopping from 6 - 10pm.
First District Breakfast in Drake Park This Saturday
Join We Love Long Beach at Drake Park for a FREE community breakfast. All neighborhood residents are invited for the pancakes, sausage and other great breakfast foods. This will be a great chance to meet your neighbors. Drake Park from 9 - 11am.
Let's continue to build a better Downtown
