One of my goals on the City Council has been to make government more accessible, to invest in technology and most importantly empower our residents to actively play a role in making our city even better. Thanks to you, the support of my council colleagues and the commitment of our outstanding city staff we created the smartphone application "Go Long Beach".
I am proud to report that as of today, 3,712 people are active "Go Long Beach" users. They report graffiti, potholes, and other neighborhood issues via the GPS application to the City instantly. So far, they are responsible for reporting over 7,000 cases to the city, and of those 7,000 cases, the city has already fixed 6,500 of them.
We have empowered our residents, especially our youth, to beautify the city and report graffiti and other issues quicker than ever before. "Go Long Beach" has become a model of government efficiency.
This success could not have been possible without the incredible support of our Technology Services Department who worked with me every step of the way to implement "Go Long Beach," and of course our Public Works Department who are out there responding to every case that is reported. The men and women who clean our streets, sidewalk, and keep our city clean have worked hard to implement this new technology into their management systems.
