A New Community Garden On The Westside
Mary Molina is a lifelong avid gardener, particularly interested in creating community garden space, long before community gardens gained the prominence they now have. She was also a Long Beach schoolteacher and Regional President of the PTA, a true role model of civic participation to her family and community.
The new garden is being built on a parcel of land that was donated by the Molina Family. We are extremely grateful to the Molina family for their generous donation, and very excited to create another community garden in the First District, especially on the Westside in a neighborhood that needs more open space.
The Mary Molina Garden will be constructed and operated by Long Beach Organic and is scheduled for completion in 4 -5 months. The construction project will include garden plots, water line and spigot installation, fencing, and a granite path to an ADA-accessible area with raised planters. A special thank you to the whole Parks & Recreation team for all of their hard work on this project.
